Keywords - They can make or break you

The online world can seem very big and overpowering at first and once you start exploring, it seems even bigger. We can help you filter through the mass amount of information and show you where to find the things you need.

If you are planning on starting an online business, you do have a bumpy, yet promising road ahead. You won’t get rich overnight like some scammers promise, but with some hard work and dedication, you can pull it off.

Owning your own website is great because it is available 24/7 to the entire world. Today’s technology is growing rapidly and it makes sense to hop onto this moving train. You can start by trying to come up with a good theme for your site. Think about subjects you know and have a passion for, what interests you? This is crucial because you need dedication and if you were not interested in the things you are writing about, you might as well give up.

To build a web business, you must think of it as any another business. It will take time and work. You should build your web business on something you enjoy. You need to offer information as that is what most people look for on the internet. If you have the information they are looking for, they will go to your website.

You can sell your products, sell someone else’s and receive commission, or use monetized advertisements. You don’t need your own product!

The next step is to research this topic. How many websites can you find on your topic? Don’t be afraid... There will be a lot! But how many of those are actually worthwhile to the average internet surfer? ...Not a lot.

You can research and look for basic ideas in search engines, or this handy keyword tool:
Yahoo Keyword Selector Tool

When you type in a keyword using this tool, you are given the estimated number of times that term was searched for in the last month. Try to look at keywords that are in the middle of list. That way they are not seeked by huge companies and people still look for them.

For example, when I type in ‘cameras’ the top keyword is ‘camera digital’ with a count of 1378541. This keyword is being heavily used and there isn’t much hope that you’ll get recognized with it. However, when you create pages that are about specific things and use a keyword such as ‘camera zoom lens’ there is only a count of 206. It would make more sense to use this keyword with a count of a couple hundred in a page rather than compete with thousands of other people.
